This was probably the last low key Christmas day we will have for a long time. CJ didn't understand the concept of Christmas morning this year, so when he got up, to him, it was just another day. We started the day with some of Scott's delicious waffles...
Then we talked, as best you can with an 18 month old, about Jesus being born. CJ was particularly interesting in the baby. He would point to it and say baby over and over.
Then it was time to open presents. We actually ended up opening presents 4 times, so this was just the presents from us and Santa for CJ.
He didn't miss a beat tearing the wrapping paper off his basketball goal from Santa...
Then it was time to PLAY!
If you remember, CJ also got a big boy bed from his granddad for Christmas that he helped daddy paint. Scott did the finishing touches to it on Christmas Eve and it was dry enough to bring in and put together on Christmas morning; we all helped. Then at nap time, we asked CJ if he wanted to sleep in his crib or his big boy bed. He pointed at the big boy bed, and he never got back into crib again. I can't imagine an easier transition. Doesn't he look tiny in it though???
Then after napping and some more playing, it was time for Christmas dinner. Scott strongly dislikes traditional Christmas fare, so this year we tried something different. Christmas tacos. Boy it was good. I think we have a new tradition! YUMMY!
CJ loved it too... especially the sour cream. You never know what this little guy is going to love on any given day.
The best part of the day was just spending time together. I am sure next year our day will be completely different. CJ will understand more about presents and Santa. Will will be almost one (crazy to think about). But what will be the same (besides tacos) is loving to spend time with our family!
