If you were wondering if Will made an appearance since the blog hasn't been updated in a while, you would be right!
On the 28th I went in for my 38 week check up, and we never left the hospital. When the midwife measured him, he was in a funny position and I was only measuring 34 weeks. When she measured later, he measured 37 weeks, but she did a sonogram just to make sure everything was ok. I never knew babies take "practice breaths," but when she didn't see Will doing this, she wanted to put me on a fetal monitor for 20 minutes to reassure her everything was ok. As they were monitoring me, his heart rate dropped drastically. They rushed me from the OB clinic over to labor and delivery, and by the time they had me hooked back up, his heart rate was fine. Scott had gone to get gas while I was being monitored, so when he came in, he was a little worried at first. Since we didn't know any better, we assumed everything was ok since his heart rate was fine.
Then, our midwife came in and said, "So let's talk about some options..." Scott and I both looked at each other totally confused. Since they weren't able to see Will taking practice breaths and because his heart rate dropped, both midwives on duty and the OB who I really like, all recommended I have a repeat c-section THAT DAY! We were shocked. After a little crying and a lot of praying, we both agreed that it was the best option. So here we are waiting...
And just a few hours later, after another scary moment of dropped heart rates, here is Baby Will...
William Spencer Hetzel was 6 lbs, 9 oz and 21 inches long. He was born at 8:03 pm on December 28th. And most importantly, he is absolutely perfect. CJ never got into a good rhythm, but as soon as he was born, Will just naturally settled into life. And speaking of CJ, if you wondered if he likes his brother, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...
