last day as an only child...

CJ had a GREAT last day as an only child. We started the morning out with a special breakfast at our favorite local restaurant, Ruth Ann's. The ladies there love CJ, and he was in a mood to E.A.T! He powered through the oatmeal and peaches I brought for him, and we ended up ordering a child's plate of pancakes that he almost finished as well. We were all full and content when we left.

When we got home, we waited for another special surprise. Uncle Richard, Aunt Krista, Natalie and Nathan were stopping by on their way home from Florida. If you remember us going to Tennessee for a week this summer, you'll remember that CJ LOVES Natalie. He was totally smitten with her this summer, and when Krista, Natalie and Nathan walked in the door, he only had eyes for her. I loved that he remembered her and that we have been blessed to be around family enough for him to remember them.

After lunch, CJ got to put off going down for a nap so he could play...

and open presents...

We didn't open the "pound a ball" that day. But a few days later, we got it out, and CJ had sooooo much fun with it. He knew just what to do with it...

and after the balls all rolled down, he would say "mo, mo, mo" while signing more...

and then do it all again. He played with it uninterrupted for 30+ minutes. He wouldn't even share with Gran he was having so much fun! (And on a side note, Will is such an awesome sleeper that the day we got it out, he went to sleep while CJ was banging the heck out of it and slept the entire time he played with it!

After a nap, CJ had another fun surprise...GRAN! When she walked in the door his eyes lit up. Priceless. He was glued to her from the moment she walked in the door. And what a blessing for us to have her here the entire time we were in the hospital with Will. We joked before she came that it would be great if I had Will on the 28th so she could get the most time with both the boys; lucky for her, our joke came true.

Then the last morning as an only child, CJ had yet another surprise...Auntie Julia! She came home to be the maid of honor in a friend's wedding and took a 19 hour layover in Atlanta just so she could drive down and see us.

She spent Christmas with her family in Yellowstone, and brought CJ the cutest pair of Yellowstone/grizzzly bear jammies...

We wish Julz could have stayed longer, but we'll take her whenever we can for as long as we can get her. Now she has to come back to meet Will!

While we were at the hospital, CJ played hard with Gran. He was sweet all day, and we asked mom to bring him up before dinner so we could see him before Will was born. Since I ended up having my c-section at 7:30 and that's CJ's normal bed time, we let him stay up a little late so he could meet his little brother. While they waited he played with Gran in the waiting room...

and had a snack...

Then he got to see Will for the first time. It was love at first sight.

What a great time for a very special little guy!
