three stooges...

One of my favorite things about Scott is how much he loves his family. He would do anything for them and vice versa. Since he has wanted to sky dive since before we were married, I couldn't think of a better Christmas present than for him to do that with his Dad and brother Bud. It was on Dad's "bucket list, " and Bud has wanted to do it for sometime as well. Unfortunately it wasn't a surprise like I hoped it would be, but they still had lots of fun.

The fellas gearing up...

As they were getting ready, Mom joked that it would be funny if Scott, who is the tallest by far, got the short little guy to tandem with. And sure enough...he did.

CJ wanted to jump too, but unfortunately you had to be 18. So instead of getting one of the super cool jump suits, he settled for his ultra-warm teddy bear fleece suit.

As they were headed off to the plane, I couldn't help but snap these few pictures. Isn't he handsome? And don't the three of them just look like trouble to you?

CJ got one last play time in with Daddy before he left. Since we took this, CJ has gotten very good at standing on Scott's hand and balancing. They both think it is pretty fun. One of the other women around us thought it was awful Scott was doing this, but I think it is letting boys be boys. You have to let them be a little dangerous...

And then we waited. The littlest boys played and got lots of loving...

The girls found a beautiful dog and played outside with Tyler and Devan for a while, but it was C.O.L.D, so they were back inside soon.

And then before we knew it, we heard the plane and saw chutes. Scott came down first.

And Bud was close behind.

I love these two pictures. I love how much these two yah-hoos love each other. And I think the second picture looks like Maverick and Goose coming in off the flight line. But at this point, the rest of us were wondering where dad was....

Turns out he was delayed due to technical difficulties with the camera man. When they made the first pass and Scott and Bud jumped, the camera malfunctioned, and they had to make another pass for dad. But he was in sight soon enough, and on the ground loving it.

hetzels on harleys

When we lived in California, Scott had a 100th anniversary Sportster (that's a Harley starter bike for all you non-Harley lovers). He loved it, and we had a great time riding and seeing the costal scenery from a unique view. I confess, I wasn't "all-in" when he found it, but I LOVE riding on it. I have no desire to have my own, but as long as he'll let me hold onto him, I will ride with him.

But, I digress. When we left California for Japan, Scott's dad bought the Sporty from us since it was a major hassle to take it with us. We were in Japan about a week before Scott scoped out the Harley dealer on the next base over, and within 6 months he had his Softail. Scott's dad was content with the Sporty for a short while, but then upgraded to an Electra glide...or as we call it the Geezer glide. When he changed bikes, Scott's brother gave in and bought the Sporty from Scott's dad. But he too was content for only so long before getting his own Electra glide.

Scott's dad and brother ride for comfort, but Scott is still about feeling the pavement. I doubt he will ever get rid of his Softail, but he might just get his own Electra glide if we start taking lots of long trips.

Here's my hot hubby. I really like his jacket...

And it was REALLY cold the day of their ride. All the Hetzel women joke that our husbands are heaters, but it is really true. Even little CJ is a furnace when he sleeps. So, you know it's cold when these human heaters are dressed like this...

And the gang (minus Uncle Butch).
