play date...

We have been so blessed to have great friends here that have a little girl the same age as CJ as well as a little boy the same age as Will. When life gets crazy with two little ones, they get it. When you need someone to watch your kiddo(s) at the last minute, they are there for you. And what makes it even better is that even if they didn't have kids the same age, they are awesome and we would want to be their friends anyway... what could be better!?!

Unfortunately for both our families one or more of us have been sick for almost the entire last month. One day when Anna Grace's little brother had to go to the doctor, she got to come play... it was also one of the few time she, CJ or both of them weren't sick at the same time. It was soooo nice to have her come play again. What is great about these two is that they really play together... always have. We all agree that they are easier to take care of together than apart because they do such a good job of entertaining each other.

And they really love on each other. This was totally un-coached...

as well as this. (This is also what led to them both being sick last time!)

Then AG backed CJ into the corner, but he seems unphased...

and actually enjoyed it! They crack me up!

But as I was looking at these pictures, I couldn't help but remember these. The was CJ's first kiss. Even as little ones, Anna Grace knew a handsome boy when she saw him!

And they were SO little. Where has the time gone? I have to admit, looking back at these old pictures got me a little teary eyed.

he wants it so badly...

Will has almost figured out the brain to hand connection. He gets so excited when I put the hanging toys on his bouncy chair, and he wants to grab the caterpillar so badly. Look at the concentration. Yesterday, he was swatting at them, and made connection, but he's still figuring out how to get a good hold. I love watching his little brain work. It's amazing.

mat time...

Mat time for Will is always full of fun. It always starts out calm enough...

But this day, CJ decided his stuffed animals needed to do tummy time with Will. He brought then from his bed one at a time. When I snapped this one, bunny and George had joined the fun...

But CJ was back quickly with his bear.

and puppy.

He was also very concerned Will didn't have his nook...

When he finally got it to stay in Will's hand, he clapped his hands and said, "yeah!" I love these two.

Scott got a new chair. Will was kind enough to help him break it in...

good things come from Florida...

Y'all know how much I love Texas, but Florida has a few things going for it as well... especially if you ask CJ. My mom told me she was tired of only seeing pictures of CJ sick and upset, so here he is happily enjoying some of Florida's bounty.

A few weeks ago, Scott went to Florida for the weekend and came back with Milton Bakery doughnuts. YUMMY! And somehow, CJ immediately knew it would be good as well. He didn't even hesitate when we put it on his plate.

And here he is demonstrating a creative way to eat one's doughnut...

But what also came back from Florida really made CJ happy. Check out the joy on his face!

CJ got his own motorcycle. He calls it his "mo mo." Before we get in the car, he has to point at Scott's motorcycle and say, "daddy mo mo" and then at his and say, "C mo mo." It is so cute (and a little frustrating when we are in a hurry).

And I'm not sure which of these two has had more fun with the new "mo mo."

CJ quickly learned how to make it go, but steering is a work in progress. They are working on turning...

And this series of pictures just makes me laugh...

I love my boys!

delinquent parenting...

After the last post, you might think CJ is still sick when you look at this picture...

Nope. I'm just a delinquent parent. There aren't many opportunities for me to "get things done" around the house, so when Will is asleep, and CJ is amenable to playing by himself, I tend to jump on the opportunity and get b.u.s.y! I was trying to load pictures on the computer last week, and CJ was quietly occupying himself looking at things in the office drawer. I have already pulled out everything that he could get into and do serious damage with, so don't think I was letting him play with scissors and staple removers... I'm not that delinquent. But nonetheless, I wasn't paying close attention to what he was doing. I would glance down, and he would be looking at my stationary, taking markers out of a box and putting them back in or playing with a clicky-eraser. I wasn't going for developmentally appropriate at this point, I was just thankful he was entertained. But then I heard sounds of displeasure. Turns out, he found my self-inking address stamper and somehow figured out how to insert his finger between the stamp and ink pad. Here's what ensued...

He is pointing at himself saying "C, C, help. C, C help." Here is is pointing at himself, or "C..."

and signing help with his sad little black finger...

After I took a few pictures and got a good laugh, I did clean off his finger.

just pitiful...

We've seen better days around the Hetzel house. These pictures are from Monday. CJ woke up around 6:00, and these were taken around 8:30. If you know CJ, you know he is not a daytime sleeper, but he passed out..

He slept until 1:00. Then he went back to sleep at 3:00 and didn't wake up until Scott got home around 5:00. And if you were wondering how he slept that evening, he went to bed with no fussing at 7:30 and slept until 6:30 the next morning.

We went to the doctor on Tuesday and back again today because Will is getting CJ's cough. Other than knowing CJ has some sort of virus, we are at a loss for now. So if you are wondering how CJ, Will or I am doing... we are coughing, have sore throats and are super sleepy. :( But we will survive... it could be much, much worse.
